Over the centuries, local communities devasted by earthquakes faced two choices – to leave or to stay. History shows that it was usually the second option that prevailed. Little by little they improved the techniques to make their buildings survive the earthquakes. Let’s see some of these protective features in ancient built-up environment in seismic areas.
